I am always pleasantly surprised when I receive an email from someone who is a reader of my work. I recently received one such email offering to send me a recently published work entitled My Mountains. The author, Dr. Milan Socevic is an Orthodox Christian originally from Serbia now residing in Denmark. I found that the most interesting thing about this book was that it is not just in one language, but three! The book includes all three language sections in one volume, making it a unique copy. It is a collection of poems dealing with both spiritual and nature themes, expounded in Danish, Serbian, and English.
Drawing on strong spiritual elements from Orthodox Christianity, Socevic was able to captivatingly blend several different layers of poetic excellence. This collection, which is 100 pages, if one is to read it in all three languages, was enjoyable for me because it is not an inherently spiritual work, but it provides a foundation on which many natural themes are introduced. Socevic further details how the war in Serbia had an impact on his life, and how his adopted home of Denmark has impacted his worldview for the better. Lastly, he also alludes to his love for family and the traditions which make up his life.
I only recommend books that I find to be genuinely interesting, and this is one such volume. You can currently go check it out on Apple Books, here.
